Emil Lagoni Valbak and Frederik Werner met at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts where they graduated in 2013. Frederik and Emil belong to the new generation of Danish design but follow the tradition of natural and pure Nordic design.
What was the initial inspiration for the Ronin chair ?
“To create a combination of traditional scandinavian stick furniture with a more Japanese look. The curved backrest and seat are the elements that meet the body, and are distinguished from the frame through it’s soft and accomodating shapes.
We found inspiration in architectural arches, samourai swords and helmets.”
