JACQUES-ÉMILE
RUHLMANN
FRANCE
La Chance’s style definitely has its roots in the Art Deco movement of which the brand aims to make a contemporary transcription. Its spirit and values show through re-editions of Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann pieces, one of the undisputed masters of this period who defined the codes of a new modernity in the 1920’s.
Ruhlmann was an inventor of forms and unique and luxurious pieces, made with the best craftsmen of the time (cabinetmakers, marquetry specialists, gilders, lacquerers and upholsterers) for each of his clients. Ruhlmann was both a creator and a producer but also an editor and a gallery owner for the contemporary high society.
By working with designers with diverse backgrounds as well as Ruhlmann did, combining tradition and modernity, La Chance is keen to recall his passion for noble materials.
