Planet is an upholstered chair inspired by the distinctive silhouette of planet Saturn.
The rings of the 6th planet from the solar system are mostly composed of ice particles and form a smooth ellipsis that inspired Jean-Baptiste Souletie for the shape of the solid wood back supporting the round cushion of Planet.
Jean-Baptiste is the cofounder and art director of La Chance since 2012.
Jean-Baptiste was a design geek from a young age : “ On my bedside table when I was 15, you could find books on Ruhlmann or Eames and I spent my Saturdays in Saint-Germain district furniture or at the flea markets.” 10 years after, the passion was still intact when Jean-Baptiste decided to leave the investment found he was working for and revert to his first love.
January 2020, La Chance begins the decade with creativity and daring. Paris Deco Off was the occasion to introduce a new collaboration with the Parisian publisher and weaver Metaphores.

The Planet chair combines the poetry of celestial bodies with the cold technicity of space modules as the mat black metal structure brings a contrasting technical feel. The sturdy metal tubes are welded and assembled by hand by the best Italian artisans. The wooden back is sculpted and bent before it is sanded to emphasize the natural grain of black stained solid ash.
The upholstered seat and back ensures a high level of comfort, but Planet chair remains a featherweight at only six kilos for practical use every day.
Planet is particularly appreciated in restaurants such as Les Causeurs (Paris, France) or Lola (Copenhagen, Denmark).
